The treasurer is the county's banker. Their office has custody of the court's money. The treasurer bills and collects taxes. The treasurer serves as the county's investment officer, and serves on the investment advisory committee, along with two other commissioners. The treasurer also has the primary responsibility to collect delinquent taxes. The treasurer works in conjuncture with the county prosecutor to do so.

The treasurer also serves on the county budget commission, the board of revision, and the automatic data processing board.
