Courthouse

Title Office

The Clerk of Courts is responsible for all papers, journals, records, and books pertaining to the Court of Common Pleas (in both the General/Probate and Domestic/Juvenile divisions) and the Court of Appeals. They are also responsible for issuing writs, summons, and subpoenas. The Clerk’s office must follow procedure as required by law, which includes filing, docketing, indexing actions and issuing writs such as summons, warrants and subpoenas. The clerk of courts has a repository for coroner reports.

The Clerk of Court’s Title Division processes certificates of title for motor vehicles, watercraft and all-terrain vehicles. They also collect sales tax on automobiles. The clerk of courts will also issue memorandum copies of titles and fees associated with these responsibilities. The state-wide automated titling system links all 88 counties into a common database.

Passport applications are accepted at both locations. Each applicant must appear in person.
